PMDF System Manager's Guide
27.4.3 Pager Channel Logging
The logging channel keyword can be used with pager
channels to enable logging activity. Activity is logged in the PMDF
mail log file. See Section 2.3.4.84 for a description of this file. The
"type of entry" item in each log file will be a single
character selected from the set A, F, R, S:

In the case of a temporary error, the message is requeued for a
subsequent delivery attempt provided that the maximum number of
delivery attempts has not been exceeded. If the maximum number of
delivery attempts has been exceeded, then the error is promoted to a
permanent error. In the case of a permanent error, the message is
returned to the message's originator.
