Complex address mapping rules are required to map between Message Router addresses, which are loosely based on the X.400 series of recommendations for electronic mail, and the address format described by RFC 822, which is what PMDF uses; however, the PMDF-MR configuration utility, PMDF CONFIGURE MR, creates the necessary databases of address mapping rules. Therefore, most sites can entirely ignore this aspect of the configuration, as the PMDF-MR configuration utility will perform it for them.
