You do not need to have Compaq MAILbus 400 installed on the exact same system where PMDF and PMDF-MB400 are to reside, as long as the Compaq MAILbus 400 API is licensed and installed on the PMDF-MB400 system and is configured to make connections to the remote Compaq MAILbus 400. See your Compaq MAILbus 400 API documentation for details on what sort of network connection is required to support connections to a remote MAILbus 400 system, and for how to configure the MAILbus 400 API to connect to the remote MAILbus 400 system.
Before configuring PMDF-MB400, you must have installed and configured PMDF. As noted previously, the PMDF installation procedure also optionally installs PMDF-MB400. If you have not already configured PMDF, then do so now. Refer to the appropriate edition of the PMDF Installation Guide for instructions.
PMDF CONFIGURE MB400 (OpenVMS) or pmdf configure mb400
(UNIX), the PMDF-MB400 configuration utility, is then used to configure
PMDF-MB400. Refer to the PMDF-MB400 chapters in the appropriate edition
of the PMDF Installation Guide for detailed instructions on using the PMDF-MB400
configuration utility, as well as an example configuration session.
When configuring PMDF-MB400, you will need to specify a gateway domain
name to the PMDF-MB400 configuration utility. For a general discussion
of choosing a name and the usage of that gateway domain name, see
Section 41.2.1. Note that the PMDF-MB400 configuration utility, will,
when it is finished, produce a checklist of final steps you must
perform manually in order to complete your configuration.
The sections below describe details of the PMDF-MB400 configuration files. After initially configuring, sites may further customize their PMDF-MB400 configuration by manually adjusting options described below.
